Survey Says Colorado Kids Need Brushing Up on Oral Health

April 25, 2013 By Social Media Collaborative

Did you know? Nearly half of Colorado kids are not brushing well enough or often enough.

Colorado kids are brushing less often than many kids across the country. National survey results indicate 38% of U.S. children are not brushing the recommended 2 times a day for 2 minutes. The survey also revealed that only 2 in 10 Colorado children floss daily, and 4 in 10 never floss at all.

¼ of U.S. kids had at least one cavity filled in the past year, and most of them had two or more.

Cavities are nearly 100 % preventable. Parents can help their children learn strong dental care habits to save them from filling and drilling.

Make Brushing a Family Affair

Children are far more likely to learn how to brush properly with some help. They also need someone to make sure they get a full 2 minutes, twice a day. That’s something only 59 % of American kids are currently doing. Parents should also help kids floss once a day as soon as they have teeth that are touching.

Start helping your kids build healthy dental habits this month and turn these cavity statistics around!
