June is National Smile Month and what a better way to keep a smile on your face than visiting Colorado’s fun festivals and great places? With so many places to go and things to do, you sure will be busy. Here are 4 things to see and do in the Rocky Mountain region that will be sure to put a grin on your face:
Steamboat Springs is the perfect mountain town to turn your frowns upside down. With weekend festivals, delicious dining and small town shopping, you will be sure to have a smile on your face all weekend. If you’re feeling adventurous, you can even tube down the Yampa River.
Pike’s Peak: Did you know Pike’s Peak in Colorado Springs is the most visited mountain in the world, behind Japan’s Mt. Fuji? It’s been a top destination for travelers and tourists since the 1850s, when people came to Colorado for the Gold Rush. You can explore Pikes Peak by car, foot and bike.
Georgetown Loop Railroad: Take a ride on a historic railroad through Clear Creek Canyon. See gold and silver mines and beautiful views of the mountains. The loop is one of Colorado’s earliest tourist attractions, and the three-foot gauge railroad is considered an early engineering feat as it was built in 1884.
Coors Field: Have some peanuts and crackerjack and watch the Rockies take the field. According to Coors Field history, a baseball on average travels 9% farther at 5,280 feet than at sea level. So grab your glove and cheer on the home team!
Remember to take lots of photos to capture those ginormous grins!
