3 Tips for New Enrollees

February 2, 2016 By Shelby Tatomir

Get the most out of your new benefits!Welcome to a new year and your new dental benefits plan! For new enrollees (and even for longtime subscribers), make sure you’re getting the most out of your benefits. Start fresh with these 3 steps:

1. First, check your coverage specifics.

Insurance is confusing. Plans are filled with complicated industry lingo and varying benefit percentages. Make sense of the plan you or your company purchased — log on to our website to see specifics. Use our Dental Benefits 101 & 102 Infographics as your insurance dictionary. We also have several videos on our YouTube page that will help you boost your insurance literacy.

PRO TIP: Dental benefits are designed with prevention in mind, so you’ll have free or low-cost care for dental work like cleanings and exams that are intended to help you avoid more costly work in the future.

2. Next, pick a dentist that fits you and your plan.

Seeing a dentist in our Delta Dental PPOSM network will save you money. Look up in-network dentists close to you and then research which one you want to see. There’s more to consider than just proximity to work or home. Check out these ideas on how to chose a dentist that is right for you.

PRO TIP: You don’t need to wait for your ID card to visit the dentist. Print yours from our website or use our mobile app for digital proof of coverage.

3. Finally, make (AND KEEP) your dental appointment.

Like any other doctor, your dentist is a key component to your overall health. While you’re at your appointment, schedule future visits for every 6 months. These free or low-cost preventive check-ups will ensure a healthier smile.

PRO TIP: Your dentist’s staff can look up your plan and help you decide what care fits with your coverage specifics. Remember to ask questions about cost or billing, too!

If you still need help, call us! Our customer service team is happy to help you navigate your benefits.
