If you’re in the market for gifts that keep on giving all year round, dental gifts may be the solution for you! Instead of another pair of socks, why not give your loved ones the gift of good oral health and a radiant smile this holiday season?
Dental gifts that everyone will appreciate
Although dental gifts may not be on the top of everyone’s wish list, they’re a unique way to show someone you care!
Electric toothbrush
Can an electric toothbrush improve your oral health? The answer is yes.
We love electric toothbrushes because they do most of the work when brushing your teeth. They clean teeth more effectively than manual brushing by using rapid movements to remove debris and tartar from your teeth and gums.
Although there are many electric toothbrushes available on the market, not all are the same. If you plan on gifting one over the holidays, be sure to pick from the list of ADA-approved electric toothbrushes.
Water flosser
Traditional floss is still a fantastic dental gift, but if you are trying to step it up this holiday season, here are ADA-approved water flossers.
Water flossers are like traditional floss in that they help clean debris and plaque between your teeth. However, water flossers are more effective at removing plaque than string floss. In fact, one study found that “Plaque removal was 20–30% higher in the group that used a water flosser.”
Additionally, water flossers are a great option for people who may be lacking manual dexterity, are caretakers for someone who is unable to floss themselves, or are going through orthodontic treatment because they are easier to move around the mouth.
Mouthguard
Do you have an athlete in your life? If so, a mouthguard is a great dental gift!
Wearing a mouthguard can protect your teeth and smile by preventing potential facial or dental injuries. If you’re unable to have a mouthguard custom made by a dentist, there are other options available:
- Stock mouthguards: These mouthguards are the most cost-effective but are typically bulky and make it difficult to do certain things like talk. However, it’s better than not wearing one.
- Boil and bite mouthguards: These types of mouthguards are readily available at many sporting goods stores and have a better and more comfortable fit than stock mouthguards. The mold is boiled to make it soft and then inserted into the user’s mouth so that it can form to the shape of their bite. Make sure to use the manufacturer’s instructions and only purchase one that has the ADA Seal of Acceptance.

Bonus for the kids: Super Smile Dentist Kit
Kids shouldn’t miss out on the gift of good oral health!
The Super Smile Dentist Kit is for children and provides the opportunity for them to learn about cleanings, how to treat cavities, and even fit retainers and braces on pretend teeth.
This dental gift teaches children the importance of oral health and taking care of their teeth. It also shows children what they can expect during a dental visit and may help ease anxiety at the dentist. This toy is recommended for children ages 3-6 years old.
Dental gifts are the gifts that keep giving
Dental health products can be fun presents and provide value to your loved ones’ smiles and oral health. One of the best dental gifts you can give your loved ones is to remind them to schedule a dental visit as the new year begins.
