February is National Children’s Dental Health Month – a month of observance that brings to the forefront the small practices and daily habits that are within reach of children and their families to keep their teeth and mouths healthy. Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation invests nearly $1 million a year in oral health prevention programs across the state of Colorado, and we believe every month should be Children’s Dental Health month, as data shows that developing good oral care habits at a young age can set children up for a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.
Since 2015, Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation has proudly invested in our nonprofit partner Healthy Child Care Colorado to administer Cavity Free Kids, a free oral health curriculum and complementary training for parents and child care providers. Cavity Free Kids includes a rich collection of lessons, activities, stories, songs and other resources that actively engage young children in fun-filled, play-based learning and help caregivers practice good oral health habits at home.
In honor of National Children’s Dental Health Month, Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation is spotlighting the five “brushing basics” from the Cavity Free Kids curriculum that parents can use at home! Happy brushing!
