Delta Dental of Colorado strives to do what’s right, and we believe that doing good is good for business. It’s an honor to be recognized by the Denver Business Journal as a 2023 Partner in Philanthropy.
This award recognizes organizations that prioritize giving back to the community. Our mission is to improve the oral health of the communities we serve, and there are many different ways we approach this as an organization and as individuals.
As an organization, we’re committed to the community and demonstrate this through our support, invaluable resources, and transformative programs that directly serve Coloradans. We do this through partnerships like the Colorado Gives Day Corporate Challenge, matching employee donations, and sharing the transformative impact of our work with team members through lunch-and-learns and monthly nonprofit highlight videos. In 2022, the Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation provided nearly $11 million in grants to more than 40 organizations working in communities across the state to address three main barriers to oral health care: prevention, access to oral health care and workforce development. Last year, our individual team member giving totaled $151,597, a 15% increase from 2021.
Our dedication transcends community impact; it is our genuine passion to foster healthier, happier lives.
Individually, we have a variety of ways that team members can be involved in giving back. From encouraging our team members to join boards, volunteering with their team, and providing matching donations to team members’ direct donations, we believe that giving back to the community with your colleagues spurs further collective action and community engagement beyond the workplace.
At Delta Dental of Colorado, a major piece of our community impact work is conducted through Delta Dental of Colorado Foundation. We have furthered the foundation’s mission of achieving oral health equity through grantmaking to organizations across the state who are working to expand access to oral health care, which is part of our strategic business and financial planning process. Grantmaking is a tool to ensure more Coloradans have access to oral health care, and last year, as mentioned above, we were able to award more than $11 million to many deserving organizations who are changing lives for the better.
We’re more than just an insurance company — we’re a nonprofit on a mission to improve the oral health of the communities we serve. Smiling is contagious, and the smiles we share through the work we do in the community spark community action and amplify our Mile High Smile Power™. I’m grateful for the work of my team members and honored to be recognized by the Denver Business Journal for our partnership with providers, nonprofit partners, and team members who enable us to do this work each and every day.
