With the holidays upon us, sugar is hard to avoid. Everyone is singing Christmas carols and spoiling themselves with treats like Christmas cookies and eggnog. If you are joining in the fun, remember that the American Heart Association has a daily recommendation for added sugar in your diet.
Many daily treats contain much more than the recommended value. You can dramatically cut your sugar by eliminating the main sources like soft drinks and pastries. If eliminating is too extreme for you, make sure you wash away excess sugar and other food particles with a little bit of water after you eat.
