On Sunday, May 17, lace up your sneakers and join runners for the 10th Anniversary Colfax Marathon Race. Celebrate your good health as you run down America’s longest street and, if you’re running the half marathon, through the Denver Zoo.
Assemble a team for the relay race or run one of these individual events: marathon, half marathon, Urban 10 Miler, or 5K. Proper diet and exercise can relieve stress, enrich your life, and benefit your oral and overall health. Not only are you benefitting your body, you’re supporting 150 charity partners.
Follow these tips for a successful race day:
1. Think fresh.
Maintain a healthy diet full of fresh foods for more energy. Bonus: Fruits and veggies are great for your body and teeth.
2. Rest before the big race.
Adults needs 7 to 9 hours of sleep a night. Give your body the downtime it deserves.
3. Listen to your body.
Overworking your body can lead to injuries. Run at a pace that is comfortable for you.
4. Stay hydrated.
Drink plenty of water. Steer clear of energy drinks and sports drinks. They are often packed with sugar, which leads to cavities and tooth erosion.
5. Relax to the max.
Don’t clench your jaw or bunch up your shoulders. Shake out your arms to stay relaxed.
