Looking for a sweet treat that’s delicious and easy on your teeth? This pumpkin pudding recipe is not only packed with flavor, but it’s also a tooth-friendly alternative to sugary desserts.

Pumpkin is rich in vitamins and minerals, and with this recipe you can enjoy a dessert that’s satisfying without worrying about the damage that high-sugar treats can do to your smile.

Why pumpkin pudding?

Pumpkin is a nutrient-dense food loaded with vitamin A. According to an article from The Impact of Nutrition and Diet on Oral Health, vitamin A deficiency has “been associated with decreased oral epithelial development, impaired tooth formation, enamel hypoplasia and periodontitis.” In other words, lack of vitamin A can lead to poor development of the protective tissue in the mouth, issues with tooth formation, weak enamel, and gum disease.

Sugar-free pumpkin pudding recipe

Using a sugar-free (or low-sugar) sweetener in this recipe will reduce the risk of tooth decay while still producing a rich, creamy dessert.

Recipe from: Kalyns Kitchen

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons Golden Monkfruit Sweetener*
  • 2 packages (1 ounce each) Jello Instant Sugar-Free Cheesecake Pudding Mix
  • 1 can (15 ounces) pure pumpkin puree
  • 16 ounces heavy cream, half-and-half, or milk of your choice
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin spice mix

*Note: Monkfruit sweetener is a plant-based sugar alternative that is generally recognized as safe by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Directions:

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the Golden Monkfruit Sweetener, Jello Instant Sugar-Free Cheesecake Pudding Mix, pumpkin puree, heavy cream (or half-and-half or milk of choice), and pumpkin spice mix.
  2. Using a heavy whisk, mix all the ingredients until fully combined. The pumpkin pudding mixture should be thick. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add more cream.
  3. Pour the pumpkin pudding into individual serving dishes and chill.
  4. Can add a sugar-free whipped cream topper for taste and presentation.
