How often during the day do you take a moment to think about your health and the possible risks you are taking with your daily habits? I know for most people (especially myself), we tend to take our bodies for granted and assume they will never betray us. Many of our activities alter the state of our health, yet so many people believe they will be one of the lucky ones.
If I smoke, I won’t get oral or lung cancer.
If I don’t exercise, I won’t gain weight.
If I have high glucose levels, I won’t develop diabetes.
Entrepreneurs can be the worst offenders! Often you will find yourself working 14-16 hours a day and eating out because you didn’t have time to make healthy meals. Well today, you have been alerted! March 27, 2012 is American Diabetes Alert Day. American Diabetes Alert Day is a day dedicated to alerting Americans about their risk of contracting diabetes. The American Diabetes Association has developed a 1 minute risk test. It assesses your risk of developing type 2 diabetes and “can help you stop diabetes before it stops you”.
Entrepreneurs: Consider this your wakeup call! Stress, long days, unhealthy eating and lack of exercise are all risk factors to developing this disease. Take a good look at your daily routine and consider ways that you can make healthy changes without drastically disrupting your day. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator, ordering the chicken sandwich without mayo for lunch, and even brushing your teeth twice daily are healthy habits you could adopt to be one step closer to a healthy lifestyle!
