Living in the beautiful Rocky Mountain region, we are no doubt at the mercy of Mother Nature. One day we could be watching the snow fall down and the next we could have our air conditioner blasting.
Well fellow Coloradoans, spring has sprung and now is the time to start visiting the home improvement stores and planting your gardens. Whether you choose to plant vegetables or flowers, gardening in Colorado could prove to be mighty tricky.
Colorado has an average elevation of more than 6800 feet. With such a high elevation, we run into problems such as fluctuating temperature and low humidity. These are two crucial elements of growing successful plants.
Don’t let our environment stop you from planting a beautiful garden though. Many plants thrive in our environment. Look around online for the plants and vegetables that grow the best in your location. If you want to grow a vegetable or plant that you know will not grow in your backyard, try indoor gardening!
Once you have your garden all set up, you can use your old toothbrushes to help you garden! If you decided to plant indoors, an electric toothbrush can help you self-pollinate your indoor plants. It works wonderfully.
You can also use your old toothbrush to make a stake. If your tomato plant refuses to stay up, tie a couple toothbrushes together and use them to support the branches. Who knew toothbrushes could be universal tools?
If you have any other Colorado gardening tips you would like to share with our reader, please leave them in the comments. Happy gardening!
